TCS Q2 PAT up 28.6% yoy at Rs9,653cr on better profit traction across verticals


TCS reported 16.77% growth in total sales revenues for the Sep-21 quarter on consolidated basis at Rs46,867cr. On a sequential basis, the revenues were higher by a more moderate 3.21% compared to Rs45,411cr in the Jun-21 quarter. TCS witnessed over 15% growth across all its principal verticals including BFSI, manufacturing, retail, CMT and life sciences.


The principal North American revenues grew 17.4% you in constant currency terms. Operating margins remained stead at 25.6%, albeit slightly lower on a yoy basis by 60 bps. Continuing its focus on premium clients, TCS added 5 clients in the $100 million plus bulge bracket in the quarter. The net cash from operations stand at 103% of the net income.


Among the major growth drivers, manufacturing led with the way at 21.7%, followed by life sciences at 19% and retail at 18.4%. BFSE grew by 17% while communication and media grew at 15.6% yoy. In terms of regions, North America led the way with 17.4% followed by UK at 15.6% and continental Europe at 13.5%. India led among EMs at 20.6% growth.


For the Sep-21 quarter, net profits were up 28.64% on a yoy basis at Rs9,653cr while on a sequential basis, the profits were up by 6.9%. This is much better than the sequential growth last quarter. The operating margins continue to be best in class at above 25% while net margins have crossed 20% in the September 2021 quarter.
