PM Narendra Modi celebrates Diwali with soldiers: Here are some key highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Nowshera district on Thursday, November 4 to celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed near the Line of Control (LoC). 

PM Modi extended his greetings to soldiers on the occasion of Diwali. He said, “Greetings to the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. I wish that this festival of lights brings happiness, prosperity and good fortune to your life. Wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali.”

From wishing soldiers prosperity and happiness to talking about women empowerment, terrorism; here are all the points made by PM Modi: 

– I want to spend Diwali with family members; so I join you to celebrate the festival

– The role of women in the area of security of the nation is touching newer heights. The women are being given a permanent commission in the army now. The doors of premiere military institutions have also been opened for women now

– There have been many attempts made to spread terrorism hereafter the surgical strike took place and India has given a befitting reply

– It fills every Indian with pride in the role this brigade played during the surgical strike. He said, “I feel connected to the light & courage emanating from this place.”

– Our soldiers are the ‘Suraksha Kawach’ of ‘Maa Bharti’. It is because of you all that people of our country can sleep peacefully & experience happiness during festivals

– We have to enhance, adapt our military capabilities in line with changing world and mode of war

– Border, coastal areas lacking normal connectivity now have roads, optical fibres; this boosts deployment capabilities, facilities for soldiers

– I have spent each Diwali with soldiers guarding our borders. Today, I have brought along with me the blessings of crores of Indians for our soldiers here

– We used to depend mostly on imports in the defence sector.  Our capability, strength ensure peace and security for the country. 

– We have come a long way since our independence. Earlier, it used to take years together to procure defence equipment for security forces, but India today stands prepared & ready with the vision of Aatm Nirbhar Bharat.
