Hours before the expansion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan resigned on Wednesday (July 7). Earlier on Wednesday, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar had also resigned from the Cabinet.
PM Modi is all set for a cabinet reshuffle at 6 pm on Wednesday, the first since assuming charges for a second term. The new cabinet, to be announced today will have a special focus on the representation of the underprivileged and tribal communities, as per media reports.
It is been reported that as many as 81 members will now be a part of the new cabinet. PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP Chief JP Nadda have held several meetings over the past few weeks in this regard.
It is expected that the Cabinet reshuffle would take place with a focus on upcoming elections in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur next year.
