Vertical Entertainment has dropped the official trailer for Susie Searches. Starring Kiersey Clemons (Dope, The Flash), the movie follows Susie, an unpopular college student who hopes to solve a local mystery in an effort to bring awareness to her true crime podcast. Of course, as suggested by the trailer, Susie discovers soon enough that she may be getting more than she bargained for with this endeavor. You can see what we mean by watching the trailer below.
In Susie Searches, Susie (Clemons) is an “awkward college student with a failing true-crime podcast, who seizes the opportunity to boost her campus and online popularity by solving the mysterious disappearance of Jesse (Alex Wolff, Hereditary), the campus heart-throb. With her star on the rise, events take a dark turn as Susie digs out the truth and soon finds herself in over her head.”
The film is directed by Sophie Kargman, who make her feature film directorial debut with the movie. Kargman also contributed to the story with screenwriter William Day Frank. Along with Clemons and Wolff, Susie Searches also stars Jim Gaffigan (Linoleum), Ken Marino (Wanderlust), and Rachel Sennott (Bodies Bodies Bodies).

Susie Searches Marks Sophie Kargman’s Directorial Debut
The film is produced by Adam Mirels and Robbie Mirels (Ingrid Goes West, Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon) under their Magnetic Labs banner. Nicola Smith serves as a co-producer. Also on board to executive produce is star Kiersey Clemons alongside director Sophie Kargman, Jaimie Fairweather, and David B. Newhouse.

The film will follow the release of The Flash, the anticipated superhero movie that comes to theaters on June 16. In the movie, Clemons plays Iris West, the love interest of Barry Allen (Ezra Miller); she previously appeared in the role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Clemons also recently appeared in the Prime Video rom-com Somebody I Used to Know and she is set to star in the upcoming drama The Young Wife from Tayarisha Poe.
Susie Searches will be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
