Chelsea have been handed a potential blow with Inter Milan re-considering whether to extend the loan stay of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian had a disappointing 2021/22 season with the Blues, scoring just 15 goals from 44 games across all competitions.
As a result, he was loaned back to the Nerazzurri this campaign, but the 29-year-old has barely impressed for them so far.
Lukaku has spent most of the season on the sidelines with injuries. He has bagged just two goals from 10 games for Inter.
It is now reported that Inter are reluctant to keep Lukaku at the club next season if he does not find his scoring form again.
The Serie A giants were initially planning to extend Lukaku’s loan for another year with an option to buy for around £50 million.
They are now having second thoughts regarding the same. Lukaku has to perform in the coming months to convince them.
Inter are currently second in the Serie A standings with 40 points, 13 behind Napoli, who look on course to win the title easily.
