Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon mourn Vikram Gokhale’s death: ‘Had so much to learn from him’

Vikram Gokhale died on Saturday. He was 77. The veteran actor was admitted to a Pune hospital some days ago, where he was put on ventilator and was undergoing treatment after suffering multiple organ failure earlier this month. Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon and many other celebs took to social media to offer their condolences to Vikram Gokhale’s family and pay their tributes to the late actor. Actor Akshay Kumar, who had worked with Vikram in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), tweeted, “Very sad to know of the demise of Vikram Gokhale ji. Worked with him in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, had so much to learn from him. Om Shanti.” Anupam Kher also took to Twitter to mourn the death of the veteran actor; he tweeted along with a series of broken heart emojis, “Vikram Gokhale!”

Actor Raveena Tandon shared a tweet from a news agency about Vikram’s death and wrote ‘Om shanti’ in Hindi along with folded hands emoji. Actor Ravi Kishen tweeted, “Mere pasandida kalakar Vikram Gokhale ji nahi rahe. Mahadev unko apne shri charno mein sthan dein. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti (my favourite artist Vikram Gokhale is no more may. May God give him a place in his holy feet…)”

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also paid his tribute, and tweeted, “Marathi rangmanch, TV aur cinema ke badshah, adarniya Vikram Gokhale ji hamare beech nahi rahe! Industry ke liye yeh ek bohut bada nuksaan hai. Unke pariwaar ko hamari taraf se shradhanjali arpit karta hoon. Om Shanti (the well-respected king of Marathi theatre, TV and cinema Vikram Gokhale is no more with us! This is a huge loss for the industry! I offer my condolences to his family on behalf of all of us).” Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta tweeted, “Rest in peace Sir. You truly were one of a kind.”

Earlier this week, after rumour about his death surfaced online, the late actor’s family denied them and shared updates about his health. He eventually died on Saturday afternoon.

According to a family friend, Vikram Gokhale’s last rites will be performed in Pune on Saturday evening. Rajesh Damle said, “His body will be kept for antim darshan at Balgandharv Auditorium. Final rites will be performed at 6pm at Vaikunth crematorium in Pune.”

Vikram Gokhale was a noted actor in Marathi theatre and cinema, as well as in Hindi films, where he acted in movies such as Agneepath (1990), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), Natsamrat (2015), Hichki (2018), and Mission Mangal (2019).
