What’s new for the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E?

The 2023 Mach-E gets a number of updates, including increased range in some configurations, more standard safety features, and new styling options. 

Mach-E Premium Extended Range models with all-wheel drive will have about 13 miles more of range, for a target of an EPA-rated 290 miles.

This year also sees a significant safety upgrade in that the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver-assist features is now standard across the lineup. Furthermore, the Select entry-level models now get a free 90-day trial of the surround-view camera system and the Ford BlueCruise hands-free driving system.

The new Nite Pony styling package is available on Premium Extended Range and GT Performance Edition models. For $800, this package adds gloss black 19-inch wheels and black exterior trim to the Premium model, and gloss black 20-inch wheels and a black GT badge to the GT Performance Edition. Additionally, two new exterior colors are available across the lineup, and a panoramic glass roof replaces the black painted roof on GT and GT Performance Edition models. The California Route 1 model now gets standard all-wheel drive.

The Mustang Mach-E is inspired by the gasser Mustang, which is clear in both its styling and driving dynamics. Despite the coupe-like SUV shape, the Mustang’s design cues show up in the nose, hood, fenders, and taillights, resulting in a sportier, more upscale look than other crossovers with a similar profile.

The tech-forward cabin feels more like a Tesla, thanks to the vertical 15.5-inch touchscreen mounted in the center. Instead of a traditional instrument pod, there’s a flat, short, 10.2-inch digital instrument panel.

The dedicated EV platform was designed so as not to intrude on interior space, offering up good headroom and legroom all around, with plentiful cargo space as well. This design also works well for handling, since the low-mounted battery pack and carefully tuned suspension complement each other for great driving dynamics, firm without being harsh.

Two battery pack sizes are available, the Standard Range with 70 kwh and the Extended Range with 91 kwh. Depending on configuration, the Mach-E offers range from 211 to 305 miles.

The Mach-E is available with the choice of single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups. The former is rated for 266 or 290 hp, and the latter is rated for 346 hp in standard configuration and 480 hp for GT models. The Mustang Mach-E is quick either way, with 0-60 mph sprint times between a fast 6.1 seconds and an even faster 3.5 seconds.

The 2023 Mustang Mach-E trim lineup consists of Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT. Base Select gets a Standard Range Battery, Premium is offered with both battery choices, and the California Route 1 and the GT get Extended Range.

How much does the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E cost?

For 2023, the Mustang Mach-E sees a significant increase in base price, about $3,500 across the lineup. The lineup starts at the Select trim with the Standard Range battery and rear-wheel drive for just over $48,000, which also includes the 10.2- and 15.5-inch displays, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, wireless device charging, LED headlights, automatic high beams, and 18-inch wheels. Upgrading to the all-wheel drive Select model adds $2,700.

The most affordable model available with the Extended Range battery is the Premium RWD, which comes in just shy of $65,000; that’s about a $56,000 base price plus $8,600 for the Extended Range upgrade (for what it’s worth, this upgrade cost $5,000 last year). At that point, just go for the California Route 1, also about $65,000, which includes all-wheel drive. 

The Mach-E GT starts at just over $71,000 and includes the Extended Range battery; adding the GT Performance Edition package costs another $6,000.
